What to Expect?

Some people might choose a tropical destination for a vacation where they can fully relax, get a massage, and lounge in the pool. If you love to explore or are just looking for something different, consider cruising through Alaska.

Sipping your morning tea in front of a huge glacier is a once in a blue moon experience. In addition to this, there are several activities you can do in Alaska aside from the premium service you will get from your cruise. The name Alaska is derived from the Aleut
alaxsxa or alaxsxix̂, which means “mainland” or “great land.” It is indeed a great land. You wouldn’t want to miss exploring this beautiful sight.

I'm hosting a group on an Alaska cruise this May where we will also spend some time in a lodge in Denali. In this article, I will tell you what you can expect on this kind of cruise tour to Alaska.

These are the places included in the trip:
  • Anchorage (Whittier), Alaska – This will be your starting port. This trip to the south area in Alaska with a scenic view of pure water of Turnagain Arm and the mountain ranges of Chugach.
  • McKinley Princess Wilderness Lodge - Stay at this relaxing and warm hotel. Aside from their exceptional amenities, the exterior and interior of the place are very cozy and you will feel very relaxed so can you can rest easy in your room or in the outdoor hot tub while staring at the highest mountain in Alaska. You can also take a day trip to Talkeetna by taking a roundtrip shuttle service for only $10.
  • Denali Princess Wilderness Lodge- designed to appreciate nature’s beauty. Get to experience paved walkways as you go along the Nenana River and visit the six million acres of the Denali National Park
  • Whittier – This place is the gateway to Prince William Sound which is an inlet to the Gulf of Alaska. The sound is important for the fishing and oil industries. Not only that this place is important for business, but you can also experience and see different attractions.
  • Hubbard Glacier (Scenic Cruising), Alaska - You won’t see glaciers as huge as Hubbard glaciers much anywhere else in the world.
  • Glacier Bay National Park (Scenic Cruising), Alaska – Grace your way along the Glacier Bay National Park because you will get the chance to cruise along its pure waters and fantastic glaciers.
  • Skagway, Alaska – History says that Klondike was believed to have gold and the place was preserved to honor the stampeders. The Narrow Gauge Railway was built during the Klondike Gold Rush with nearly 3,000 feet in 20 miles because of this, Skagway is also known as the “Scenic Railway of the World” because the railway passes thru glaciers, waterfalls, and other historical sites.
  • Juneau, Alaska – this capital of Alaska, is unique among other state capital's in the United States. This city has no roads to connect its area to other cities in the state.
  • Ketchikan, Alaska – Southeast Alaska Discovery Center Come here to dive into their historical way of life. This is Alaska’s first city and a historic fishing town.
  • Vancouver, Canada – your last stop is the city of Vancouver where there are lots of activities to choose from. Experience the urban adventure by visiting historical places, exploring the city, and eating outdoors with a diverse cuisine.

Alaska's national parks are very well taken care of to preserve the beauty of the state. Alaska is known for many native groups, and you can learn some of their cultures by getting up close and personal with them.

You don’t have to be a mountaineer to appreciate mother nature and its vast huge mountains during your land tours. Simply looking at their greatness is enough to fill your bucket list. This is surely one of the unforgettable adventures you will experience in your lifetime. As you go along exploring Alaska, you will meet the greatness of its wilderness.

Alaska is located northwest of the North American continent and is the largest peninsula in the Western Hemisphere. This means that a cruise is a perfect way to explore Alaska because the state is mostly surrounded by water. While touring the state on a cruise, you will experience the amazing glaciers from the places mentioned in their different forms and sometimes you will get to witness an Instagram-worthy experience as they amazingly crash and fall into the water as you pass by.
